Our Story

Who we are

A passion for wellness meets traditional craftsmanship.

Cedar Ridge Saunas was born from an unexpected journey that brought together the modern world's passion for wellness and the timeless craft of traditional woodworking.

Our story began just a few years ago when our family moved next door to an Amish community. They are master builders, always looking for new creations. We taught them about zip-lines from Nicaragua, and quickly, one was built in their backyard. The Amish community is known for its quick action and great craftsmanship!

After traveling around Europe for nearly 3 years, I visited an endless supply of saunas. My body began to feel even better and stronger with each sauna session. Heat increases blood flow, delivering oxygen and nutrients to tired muscles and flushing out metabolic waste like lactic acid, which is just what my body needed after yoga or surfing! As my travels came to an end, I knew that I had to introduce others to the amazing health benefits of a sauna ritual.

Much brainstorming took place on many flights and with friends, and I finally talked to my neighbors about building saunas. It was there that we discovered a powerful parallel: while I had fallen in love with the ancient, heat-based relaxation of saunas from across the globe, my neighbors at home possessed an unparalleled mastery of woodworking magic.

Initially, the concept of a "sauna" was entirely new to the Amish. We have spent the last year in a deeply rewarding process of shared learning, trial, and error. It was a time to slow down, truly communicate, and merge the complex technical needs of a high-quality sauna with their meticulous, handcrafted expertise.

This journey taught us the profound power of patience and the immense value of unplugging.

Out of this unique collaboration, Cedar Ridge Saunas was born in the Hocking Hills Area.
